LOVE POEM TO A CHINESE TALLOW TREE

Triadica sebifera

Tonight the moon is rising up the back of my spine.

I go without a shirt on to the Chinese tallow tree.

I want to bend her down in my arms and ride her

like I did when I was a boy.

But she is above me now

her branches full of yellow pollen.
